We use a hard plug from rimless assembly. We recommend pushing the component in to the plug with your fingers to 'just hold'. Apply a little gentle heat to the plug (careful not to damage the lens coating), then use appropriate pliers to fully insert the component 

When cooled, the assembly is much stronger and more resiliant to working loose in higher atmospheric temperatures
