Sustainability Policy

Effective Date: September 2026
Review Date: September 2027
1. Our Commitment
Spec-Care Ltd recognises the importance of operating our business in a responsible and sustainable manner. We are
committed to reducing the environmental impact of our activities while continuing to provide a high-quality, efficient
and reliable service to our customers.
As a business operating within the optical sector, we recognise that our activities involve the use of materials, packaging,
transportation, energy and other resources. We aim to manage these responsibly and continually look for practical ways
to reduce waste and improve the sustainability of our operations.
2. Reuse and Extending Product Life
Where appropriate, we support the reuse, repair, refurbishment and continued use of eyewear and associated products
rather than unnecessary disposal.
We recognise that extending the useful life of products can reduce waste and the need for new resources. Where
products can be safely and appropriately reused, we will encourage this as part of our approach to a more circular
business model.
3. Waste Reduction and Recycling
Spec-Care Ltd will seek to prevent waste wherever reasonably possible.
We will:
• Reduce unnecessary use of paper and other consumable materials.
• Reuse packaging and materials where practical.
• Separate recyclable materials wherever suitable recycling facilities are available.
• Reduce unnecessary packaging when preparing and sending products.
• Dispose of waste responsibly and in accordance with applicable legal requirements.
• Consider the waste hierarchy when making purchasing and disposal decisions, prioritising prevention and reuse
before recycling, recovery and disposal.
We will also work with suppliers and waste-management providers where practical to improve the way waste is
managed.
4. Packaging
We will seek to reduce the environmental impact of packaging used within our operations.
Where practical, we will:
• Reuse suitable packaging.
• Avoid unnecessary packaging.
• Choose recyclable or reusable packaging materials.
• Encourage suppliers to minimise excessive packaging.
• Consider the environmental impact of packaging when selecting suppliers and products.
5. Energy and Resource Efficiency
We aim to use energy and natural resources efficiently across our operations.
This includes:
• Avoiding unnecessary use of electricity and heating.
• Switching off equipment and lighting when not required.
• Using digital documents and communications wherever practical.
• Reducing unnecessary printing and paper consumption.
• Reviewing opportunities to improve the energy efficiency of our workplace and equipment.
Where appropriate, we will monitor energy and resource use to identify opportunities for further improvement. UK
government guidance recognises that measuring environmental performance can help businesses identify both
environmental improvements and potential cost savings.
6. Transport and Deliveries
We recognise that transportation and deliveries contribute to our environmental impact.
Where practical, Spec-Care Ltd will seek to:
• Consolidate deliveries and collections where possible.
• Avoid unnecessary journeys.
• Use delivery services responsibly and efficiently.
• Consider environmental performance when selecting suppliers and delivery partners.
• Use remote communication and digital meetings where this can reasonably replace unnecessary travel.
7. Responsible Purchasing
We will consider sustainability alongside quality, service and cost when making purchasing decisions.
Where reasonably practical, we will consider:
• Product durability and expected lifespan.
• Reusable and recyclable materials.
• Packaging requirements.
• Supplier environmental practices.
• Opportunities to purchase recycled or sustainably sourced materials.
We will aim to work with suppliers who share our commitment to responsible environmental practices.
8. Compliance and Environmental Responsibility
Spec-Care Ltd is committed to complying with applicable environmental legislation and relevant regulatory
requirements.
We will take reasonable steps to prevent pollution and ensure that business waste is managed responsibly. UK guidance
requires businesses to take reasonable steps to minimise, reuse, recycle or recover waste and to manage commercial
waste appropriately.
9. Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is an ongoing process. Spec-Care Ltd will regularly review its environmental performance and identify
realistic opportunities for improvement.
Our objectives may include:
• Reducing the amount of waste we generate.
• Increasing reuse and recycling.
• Reducing paper and unnecessary printing.
• Reducing unnecessary packaging.
• Improving energy efficiency.
• Reducing unnecessary travel and deliveries.
• Increasing awareness of sustainability among employees and suppliers.
Where practical, we will monitor progress against these objectives and update our approach as our business develops
10. Responsibility
Overall responsibility for this Sustainability Policy rests with the management of Spec-Care Ltd.
All employees and contractors are encouraged to contribute to our sustainability objectives by using resources
responsibly, reducing waste and identifying opportunities to improve our environmental performance.
11. Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner where there are significant changes to our business, operations or
relevant environmental requirements.
Spec-Care Ltd is committed to making practical, measurable and continuous improvements to the sustainability of our
business.
