Spec-Care 'supporting sustainability by restoring one frame at at time'

Restore Repair Reuse

Spec-Care's Perspective of Quality Eyewear

We support the full product lifecycle of quality eyewear, ensuring frames are given renewed life rather than discarded

Manufacturer Support & Right to Repair
Quality eyewear should come with either continued supply of parts or the ability to repair beyond official support periods. We advocate for responsible manufacturing and the Right to Repair as a cornerstones of sustainability

Repairability After Expiration
Even when manufacturer service ends, frames can be restored by specialists like us. This extends usability and reduces waste

Craftsmanship and Maintenance
High‑quality materials and construction allow for adjustments, restorations, and bespoke fittings. Skilled craftsmanship ensures comfort and longevity

Frames Built to Last
True quality can be restored and maintained for an extended lifecycle. We value manufacturers whose business models focus on longer lifespans rather than planned obsolescence

Lens Replacement Compatibility
Frames designed to accept new lenses extend their life further, supporting both sustainability and client confidence

Glossary

The 'Right to Repair'

The 'Right to Repair' is a consumer movement ensuring that people can freely fix, modify, or maintain their possessions either by themselves or through an independent repair shop of their choice

Quality Eyewear

Spectacle frames designed to last more than one prescription lifecycle

Eyewear of quality should be supported by ease of access to spare parts or be fully repairable for a reasonable period of time after purchase

Fashion Eyewear

Spectacle frame with less durability and expected to be replaced with each prescription lifecycle

Materials will generally be of a lower quality and not commonly supported by replacement parts and repair

Eyewear is commonly discontinued within the prescription lifecycle

Breakages often mean end of life for the glasses

Planned obsolescence

The manufacturer knows that the customer is likely to buy a replacement from them in the form of brand loyalty. Even if the lifecycle is reduced, knowing people have to buy new things more often

  • Excellent service throughout

Very prompt email response to my query.
Excellent advisory on which package to choose, ie excellent price and value for repair, not more than necessary.
Very helpful and easy service to use from start to finish to payment through Paypal.
Sent glasses on the Saturday, received back the following Saturday through special delivery which was included in the cost, fully repaired, would never know they had been broken, it was the leg at the hinge, silver service repair.
    Highly professional company

  • Excellent service

Tried everywhere to get my glasses hinge fixed to no avail as it was apparently an unusual style. A local optician recommended Spec Care. They did a fantastic job and I am very pleased with the repair.

  • Went above and beyond

went above and beyond in repairing my frames. arm was completely snapped off, tried contacting a couple glasses repair stores near me and all said it was unfeasible. Spec care carefully assessed my glasses condition, and offered to repair my glasses, however it would be using off the shelf parts as the parts for my frames weren't available, so although the glasses could be repaired they may come back to me looking different. I agreed, repair and shipment was swift, and the glasses came back looking exactly as they did brand new, incredible! amazing company, highly recommend !
